The Wise Monkey's Lesson

In a thick forest, there lived a knowledgeable monkey named Raja. One day/As fate would have Buddhist Story it, a group of younger monkeys came to him, filled with confusion. They had been quarreling over a tempting fruit. {The wise monkey listened patiently to their stories and then spoke in a calm voice. He explained that lasting happiness comes not from owning things, but from being at peace with ourselves and others. His teaching resonated deeply with the young monkeys, and they learned a valuable realization. They understood that it's important to be kind is far more important than striving for possessions. From that day on, the young monkeys lived a more fulfilling life, guided by the wisdom of the wise monkey.

The Lotus and the Mud

The lotus flowers from the mud, a symbol of beauty. Despite its humble beginnings, it reaches towards the sun, unburdened by its surroundings. Eventually, the king returned to his kingdom/After some time had passed/When he felt renewed, a changed man. He ruled with compassion/understanding/grace and focused on the well-being of his people/prioritized their happiness/sought their fulfillment.

The Empty Bowl

It stands before you, a stark reminder of the lack. Its smooth surface shimmers under the candle flame, yet it holds nothing at all. A symbol of need, the empty bowl gazes back.

  • Will we ever satisfy this desire?

We ponder: What can be found the power to fulfill? Is it merely a representation of the infinite emptiness that exists within us?

A Single Hand's Resonance
